View over PokharaPokhara, an enchanting city nestled in a tranquil valley (827m above sea level), is the starting point for many of Nepal’s most popular trekking and rafting destinations. Pokhara is situated 200 km west of Kathmandu and is connected by air as well as by road from Kathmandu and Bhairahawa, a border town near India. Pokhara lies in the central part of Nepal.

The valley surrounding Pokhara is home to gushing rivers, clear lakes and world famous views of the Himalaya. Pokhara offers magnificent views of Dhauligari, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), five peaks of Annapurna and other mountains.

There are manay places to visit in and around Pokhara. High above the shores of Fewa Lake lays the World Peace Pagoda, which offers beautiful views over the valley. Opposite of the lake, at a height of 1592 mtrs, is Sarangkot, where you can go to see a wonderful Himalayan sunrise in the morning. Other places worth to visit are Barahi Island Temple, Devi’s Falls, the International Mountain Museum, Mahendra Cave and Begnas Lake.

The tourist area of Lakeside, stretched about along the southeast shore of the valley’s largest lake, is centered on sun, fun, music, food and drinks. Lakeside has its own charm, especially in the evening, when the shops are lit up. For everyone, Pokhara is a wonderful relaxing place.
